Standard Time started as a guitar and saxophone duet, and continues to perform in this pared-down format for intimate occasions (see Jazz Duo). In 2003 the group expanded to include first acoustic upright bass, then drums. This page contains biographical information for the members of Standard Time. From here you can send e-mail to them.

Alphabetical listing, by last name:

Fairhurst, Eric

Saxophone, Flute, Vocals

Eric Fairhurst’s primary musical direction was in the realm of concert saxophone as a recital soloist, member of the BGSU Saxophone Qt., and of the BGSU Symphonic Band. He developed a love for Jazz music during his teen years, for the great musicians of this genre such as Coleman Hawkins, Lester Young, Dexter Gordon and Stan Getz have been an influence on Eric's sound. The last eight years have been a redeveloping period in his playing due to his exposure to the vintage saxophone influences of Bob Ackerman and a deeper understanding of the more "classic" jazz sound of the 1930's-50's.

He is a 1977 graduate of Wooster High School, a 1982 grad of BGSU, with a degree in music education, and has been an ordained pastor in the Baptist church since 1988. He is currently the Minister of Worship and Senior Adults at West Hill Baptist Church in Wooster. Eric is married to Becky and has three children, Brianna, Michale, and Eric Benjamin.
